Hello, World…

This blog is a professional blog, about the things that I find interesting. It will tend towards things that are technical by nature. Computing, Security, Science among others.  I decided to start a professional blog for a few reasons. I have seen more and more businesses and professionals providing more serious content in the form of blogs. I’ve been blogging for years on a more jovial level. I decided that I’d like to give something back to the community, as well as get my opinion known.

My name is Jason Caminiti.  I have a degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University.  I have literally been using a computer, and been online since I was 7 years old.  This may not sound like a big achievement now.  However this was 1984 and there weren’t many people using computers, much less people my age.

I plan to use this blog to provide several types of content. Some of these are as follows:

  • Anything technical I happen to be interested in at the moment.
  • Security news and alerts
  • Information and how-to’s for beginner to intermediate computer users.
  • My opinion on technical, legal and security matters
  • Science content
  • Anything else I decide to tell people about

This blog is not generally for personal venting. Though I will be venting about specific security and technical issues.

I decided to start out my blog with an article that I have written up over the years to help new computer users keep their computer running optimally. After starting to write, I found I had a lot to say on this topic. I am going to release this article in a new expanded version. I have delved into what I think are the best ways to keep your computer running optimally. This being the Internet age, there will be a heavy emphasis on viruses, spy-ware, and general security.

Here are the titles of the coming articles.

How to keep your computer running optimally

0. I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…
1. Don’t get viruses (or spy-ware)
2. Backup
3. Keep it clean
4. Trust but verify (Anti-virus/anti spy-ware)

(These titles aren’t all written yet, and are subject to change.  I will change this table of contents as the articles progress.)
