Verizon wins case against text messaging spammers

Finally some good news.  Verizon won a case against a new breed of spammers.  This is the type of thing I would like to see happen more with big companies like Verizon.  They were able to win this because of the way the spam was sent.  It is a violation of the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. It was sent using an ‘auto-dialer’ which is specifically illegal to do over the wires.  Hopefully this decision nips text spam in the bud, before it starts.

I still think that the government should go after the root of the problem.  The way I see it the root of the problem is the people paying the spammers to send out the spam.  If you make it cost prohibitive for companies to send spam, they won’t send it.  You won’t stop all the junk of course, because most of it is just that.  Junk…
