How the other half lives

I have wondered what it is like to not have the Internet.  I have been ‘online’ in one way or another since I was 7 years old.  This is no small feat considering I was 7 in 1984.  My mother even uses a computer hooked up to the Internet.  My father on the other hand has absolutely no use for anything more than a cellular phone.  He has logged onto AOL maybe twice, just to see what it was all about.  One day I was joking about spam, and how it has permeated our lives.  I mentioned that my father gets absolutely no spam.  How?  He’s doesn’t have an email account.   That is about the only way its possible these days.

This article states that there are about 29% of American households that don’t have the Internet and don’t want it.  I can kind of see where they are coming from.  If being ‘online’ weren’t such a big part of my life, and I instead only say watched TV, I would have no use for it either I guess.
