Registerfly.com is no more / ICANN Reviews itself

I’m a bit late with this.  Registerfly.com, that I talked about in a previous post, has been given the boot by ICANN for non-compliance.  It looks like they haven’t pulled the logos off the site yet.  Not surprising, they probably can’t login to them to do it.  They have until the 31st before ICANN pulls all of the domains out from under them and moves them to a yet unnamed registrar.

Good riddance.  These guys were really bad.  I can’t speak for their policies before this debacle, but they clearly did not shine during the mess.  Customers weren’t able to get their domains re-registered, much less get them transferred away if they wanted to.  Their domains were held hostage by Registerfly.

Some good seems to be likely to come of this.  The ICANN will review its Registrar Accreditation Agreements  and hopefully will come up with a more strict code for registrars.  I don’t see how this can be bad for the end users.
